Knight Of The Living Dead..Episode 5
Episode 5
Trey
My Name is Trey.
As an entertainer I am billed as ‘The Professional Showoff.” I am what is know as a variety entertainer. I juggle, do contortions, escapes, slight of hand and now you can add, Save The World.
Please hold your applause till the end of the show.
It had nearly been a typical Renaissance Faire. Juggle, tell a few jokes, amuse the masses, kill the undead. Well okay, the kill the undead part is kinda new, but one has to be able to adjust when doing live theater.
For some reason Zombies had screwed up my show. I don’t know why and they didn’t seem to have the vocabulary skills to tell me. So I just went with it.
Since my show was a bust I went to check on my pals, Steve and Pat of ’Myth & Magic’, and low and behold if their show wasn’t being crashed too. Some days it just sucks to be a stage performer. Anyway I help them with their ’Finale’ then we went to visit our friend Kathy who was also do a ’bang up’ business with a scourge of undead shoplifters.
Pat, Snipe to his friends, helped Kathy ’close shop’ the it was a hop, skip and a frolic over to some other friends to see if business was dead for them too.
We arrived at ’Leather Mystic’s to find that business was ’grave’.
Gypsy was fending off dead guys with a sword, Rellie was dropping ’Deaders’ with the skills of a female Robin Hood, and Robert was showing the quality and toughness of his leather bracers by letting a zombie bite on it while he boxed it about the head and shoulders with his free hand.
Then something weird happened.
Okay, I know, like finding out the undead zombie patrons don’t tip isn’t weird enough.
My buddy Steve had seemed panicked from the moment I leapt onto their stage. At Kathy’s booth, his eyes seem wild with fright when he grabbed a tent pole and madly bashed the ‘Deaders’.
Now Steve seemed to be moving in a daze. Snipe took the tent pole and used it as a Bo staff. Kathy took a shot dispatching the creature attacking Robert. Gypsy threw the sword she had been brandishing to Steve.
While Rellie helped me clear a path for our escape. Steve just stood there. His eyes had a far off expression. His face had a look as though he were listening to someone.
Then Steve’s expression changed. The knuckles on his sword arm turned white as he gripped the handle of the weapon tighter. His shoulders seem to broaden and his eyes grew dark and somewhat scary looking.
In an instant Steve was standing next to Snipe. Their movements, Steve with the blade and Snipe with the staff, were fluid and in perfect harmony.
“No shit, there we were.” Steve laughed in a loud deep voice that didn’t sound quite right.
They continued moving in a dance of devastation, cutting and crushing the creature until we had a avenue of egress.
The human brain is a strange and marvelous thing. I would find out later that my Bi-Polar buddy couldn’t handle the weirdness. So his brain unleashed a different persona. One that had all the same memories but was more action than thinking. Stevil.
While Steve is the kind of guy to save the cute little puppies. Stevil would feed the critters to the Zombies so we could escape.
